Daniel Saenz, Camp Founder & Director
The TexStrings All-State Camp began in 2008 in the living room of its founder, Daniel Saenz. Very soon the camp sought a more spacious location as the attendees doubled in number in the camp’s second and third year. Now, the TexStrings Camp serves about 100 students each year and assists many of them in achieving their goals of making the Region and Texas All-State orchestras.

Junior high string players: build the foundation that takes you all
the way to All-State.
PreTex > TexStrings > Region Orchestra > Texas All-State
PreTex is the junior high division of the TexStrings family — a focused, three-day summer intensive for 6th–8th grade violinists and cellists inTexas and beyond. Students develop the foundational technique, musicianship, and audition awareness that set them apart when they reach high school. Small class sizes, expert faculty, and a proven methodology make PreTex the smartest head start a young string player can get.
For students with 1–3 years of experience building solid technique and musical awareness from the start.
For more experienced junior high students ready to tackle Region-level material and audition preparation.

Class sizes cary, but most class sizes are limited to 8-10 students per class. We strive to keep the class size small to make sure teachers can give individual attention to each student.
Classes are divided into three levels:
All-State Track: Former All-State members or those who have learned both of their etudes completely.
Region Track: Students who haven’t learned their etudes yet, but are interested in learning the All-State excerpts for auditioning.
Technique Track: Students who are interested in auditioning for Region only
If you are unsure of which class you should be in, ask your private teacher, orchestra director, or contact us.
Unfortunately, unforeseen events happen. We are unable to reimburse you for any missed days since our instructors are hired several months ahead of time.
